I don’t
know what the hell got into me last month. I was so shaken by the
retirement of Dan Marino that I momentarily lost sight of my intense
hate of that damn company.
Now back to the matter at hand.
The father of Cuban refugee Elian Gonzales has asked the U.S. appeals court to allow him to take the boy home.
(Is it me or has this entire world gone insane?)
A man has to ask permission from the U.S. government to take his 6
year-old son home to his native country. An innocent, law-abiding (I
know law abiding and Cuban doesn’t belong in the same sentence, but
humor me) foreigner has his son kidnapped by his ex-wife who then flees
the country on a couple of sheets of plywood and subsequently drowns
(isn’t Karma a bitch) only to have to come to this country and beg the
U.S. government to let him take his son back home.
Why are we wasting so much time and MONEY (my money to be exact) on such silliness?
Check please. (Let’s see… INS raid, Court of Appeals, Attorneys, riot control, official meetings and other non-essentials…)
Total Cost: $3.4 million (estimated)
On day one (right after they plucked Elian out of the ocean) we should have toweled him off and shipped him out.
Check Please. (Ok… gasoline for the boat, crew, 1 nice bath
towel…ok and a second one for him to stand on, a plane ticket-3rd
class, and 1 snickers bar…the boy has to eat)
Total Cost: $1,985.75 (we used price-line)
Now let’s analyze those crazy Cuban-American relatives.
(I think it was Teddy Roosevelt that said, “We have no room for
hyphenated Americans in this country.” It could have been Chris who
said that, he and Teddy were close.)
Anyway, they have manipulated the media into believing that Elian’s
father was unfit to raise him. They have attempted to sway public
opinion with deception. (Claiming Elian filed his own asylum
application. C’mon…he’s 6 years old? I didn’t even know what asylum
meant until I started writing this update and I’m sure I could kick
Elian’s ass in jeopardy any day!)
And they have done something else, but I can’t remember right now and does it really matter anyway?
It is estimated that the appeal proceeding that these crazy
Cuban-American relatives are using could take anywhere from 2 to 6
years to resolve.
TWO TO SIX YEARS!!!!
What these people fail to realize is that they are literally
stealing this boy’s childhood away from him. That is something that can
never be replaced!!!
(I’d hate to be the one “splaining” that to him when he’s 18, scarred for life, carrying a blade and sporting “colors”)
If they truly had his “best interest” in mind they would let him be
with his father (the only living member of his immediate family) and
live a normal childhood.
I could be wrong (I doubt it) but it has happened (once). Wait a minute. I think I might have an idea…
If they really want him to stay in the country I think I know of a
nice stable single parent that would probably be interested in
adoption…

NAAAH. THAT WOULD PROBABLY NEVER WORK.
Until next time…
