“Those who refuse to learn by history are condemned
to repeat it” George Santayana
If you can imagine
a stone classroom, exquisite in it’s grandeur, full of educated youth
sometime during the Roman Empire. Chaos without warning as members of
the trench toga mafia abruptly enter and bludgeon their fellow
classmates with stones. The carnage is unimaginable to the members of
senate. Meetings are called, townships united, and an empire declines.
That actually happened according to the writings of my Great Great
Uncle Baldibus (he was thinning). Throughout the annals of history we
have seen periods of great wealth and advances in technology that seem
to ignite moral decay. (Usually I like that decay part) Human life
becomes no more than a commodity that we can give and take without
thought or conscience.
The key word I think I’m looking for is VALUE. What is it that we
value? We should value many things. Family, friends, porn (Not
necessarily in that order) but above all we should value life! I mean
without that value of human life, we are no better than savages
straight out of Zimballsack, Africa (or near there). What’s next, human
sacrifices at the mall like some sick flesh white-sale? (This really
bothers me because I’m so pale)
Oh yeah, before I forget:
Boycott Chrysler Products
Where was I? Oh yeah the human life thing.
This is ridiculous. Who’s to blame? Society? Parents? Marilyn Manson? The makers of Doom? Oprah? Jude?
History indicates it’s all of the above. (Except for Jude-he’s
harmless unless you’re a grape) If we are in the early stages of social
decline (as it seems) we need to make some drastic changes in values.
These changes must begin in the home. You need to spend more quality
time with your children and teach them the importance of values,
ethics, and porn. (Maybe not the last thing)
(If you notice I’ve stopped using “we” and replaced it with “you”,
because I’m doing my part right now-so don’t bother me anymore!)
If we are not careful we may just go the way of the Roman Empire.
Of course, there is a small possibility that I may be wrong. If that’s
the case then NEVER MIND!
Well, in the words of Hall & Oats “You’re out of touch, I’m out
of time…” Thank you for staying put during my second rant. Until next
time…
